October 2nd: Motörhead exhibit opening!
The Punk Rock Museum is excited to present a new exhibition dedicated to Motörhead and Lemmy Kilmister on Friday, October 2nd, 2026. The museum will be celebrating one of rock music’s most influential, uncompromising, and unforgettable forces.
Led by Lemmy Kilmister, Motörhead helped define the sound and attitude of heavy metal while maintaining deep roots in punk rock. Lemmy’s connection to the British punk scene ran deep, including his time playing bass with The Damned. Motörhead’s speed, volume, and no-nonsense approach would go on to influence generations of punk bands, including Pennywise, Rancid, Lagwagon, and countless others.
At the heart of Motörhead’s infamous sound was Lemmy’s Rickenbacker bass, played through towering Marshall stacks. The resulting volume and intensity became legendary, with generations of fans describing Motörhead as one of the loudest bands they ever experienced, a sound that wasn’t simply heard, but felt.
PLAY LEMMY’S BASS!
One of the exhibition’s most unique experiences will give visitors the opportunity to play Lemmy’s actual bass through the stack he used.
Rather than simply viewing the iconic equipment behind glass, guests can pick up the bass, plug in, and experience the gear that helped create Motörhead’s unmistakable sound. It’s a rare opportunity to connect with the band’s history in a direct and very loud way.
A custom-made motorcycle manufactured by Victory Motorcycles and presented to Lemmy in December 2011 will be on display. The motorcycle was customized by CBP Custom Bikes & Parts and features airbrush artwork by Terje Aspmo.
The Punk Rock Museum exhibition will feature items from Lemmy’s personal collection, including photographs, handwritten lyrics, and much more!
Motörhead albums will be available at Vinyl Threat, The Punk Rock Museum’s record store, while exclusive Motörhead merchandise will be available in the museum’s gift shop.
OPENING NIGHT — OCTOBER 2nd:
The museum will have special programming that will run from 6 p.m. to midnight.
6–8 p.m. — Intimate Motörhead exhibition walkthrough.
8 p.m. — Motorbäbe performs at Three Star Punk Bar.
9 p.m.–midnight — Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records DJs at Three Star Punk Bar.
