“In June 1999, after the demise of 88 Fingers Louie, I was looking to start a new project.  It took some time, but after several months, we settled on a lineup we were confident in.  Once solidified, we recorded nine songs in our hometown of Chicago, but struggled to find a name.  We eventually settled on Transistor Revolt.  Our demo made its way to several independent record companies, including Fat Wreck Chords, who initially weren’t interested.  We asked Mike to spend some time with it, and he eventually came around with the caveat that we change the name.  Our drummer at the time suggested the name "Rise Against", and it stuck.  Soon after, we wrote, recorded, and released The Unraveling, marking the humble beginnings of Rise Against.” - Joe Principe (Rise Against).

Rise Against will be donating 100% of their part of the proceeds to the Punk Foundation.

July 31st: The Punk Rock Museum Original Demos, to release Tony Sly's Bedroom Recording #1 Commemorating Inaugural "Tony Sly Day"!

The Punk Rock Museum is proud to announce the release of original demo recordings, Bedroom Recordings #1, by beloved singer-songwriter Tony Sly, available July 31st through the museum’s record label. This date will also mark the inaugural Tony Sly Day, a new annual tradition at the museum celebrating the life and legacy of the late No Use for a Name frontman.

Fans can access the release online and in person at the museum’s record store, Vinyl Threat. These rare demos offer a raw and intimate glimpse into Tony Sly's creative process, highlighting the heartfelt songwriting that made him a punk icon.

Tony Sly Day will be held every year on July 31st, paying tribute to his enduring influence on the punk rock community. The museum invites fans, musicians, and supporters from around the world to join in honoring his memory.

"Tony Sly’s untimely death was by far the worst loss of my life. He was not only a dear trusted friend, but he was one of the best songwriters I’ve ever known. He was not just a musical influence for me; I envied some of the songs he wrote. His honesty and vulnerability in his words were only matched by his beautiful voice and unique chord progressions. He will always be missed, and the hole he left in the punk rock community will never be filled. A few months ago, I thought it would be appropriate to make July 31st (the day of his death) official Tony Sly Day at the Punk Rock Museum. I called his wife, Brigette, and she and Tony’s daughters loved the idea. So we made it happen. Please join us in a celebration of Tony’s musical career."

Artifact of the month from Bayside:

"Back in 2017, we asked our friends at Violent Gentlemen if they could make a custom hockey Jersey for the band. It was the first time they ever worked with a band creating a jersey. Only about twenty were made for the band, crew, and a few lucky fans who won a jersey as a giveaway. Since then, Bayside has made 2 more hockey jerseys with Violent Gentlemen, including one for the 25th anniversary this year."
